ASVAB Career Exploration Month  Print Now Printer Friendly

WHEREAS, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program is an interactive, comprehensive, and career-relevant collaborative effort between the U.S Department of Defense and Education and the nation’s schools; and

WHEREAS, the ASVAB Career Exploration Program is one of the most widely-used and highly-regarded comprehensive career development programs in the world, designed by career development professionals, high school guidance experts, and testing professionals - meeting national and State of Alaska standards; and

WHEREAS, the ASVAB Career Exploration Program meets the career development needs of today’s high school and post-secondary students, whether they plan to enter the workforce immediately or pursue further education at a university, community college, or vocational institution; and

WHEREAS, the ASVAB provides a full spectrum of career opportunities to students, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or ability level, and is a predictor of success in training and educational programs, including ready-to-use structured activities to guide students through the career exploration and planning process; and

WHEREAS, the ASVAB Career Exploration Program gives students that participate greater confidence in making career decisions by providing them the necessary tools to explore and consider options for the future;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sean Parnell, Governor of the State of Alaska, do hereby proclaim October 2009 as:

ASVAB Career Exploration Month

in Alaska, and encourage Alaskans to support Alaska’s students and help guide them into satisfying and long-term careers.
