WHEREAS, Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary sorority for women educators honoring excellence in education, giving, and worldwide understanding; and
WHEREAS, since its inception, Alpha Delta Kappa has recognized and supported its members in their commitment to educational excellence and spirit of altruism that encompasses their schools, their communities, and the world; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Delta Kappa members work together to enrich the lives of others through charitable projects, the advancement of the teaching profession, the furtherance of worthy standards in education, and goodwill in fellowship around the world; and
WHEREAS, as Alaska celebrates 50 years of statehood, we also honor the Alaska members for 50 years of dedication to excellence and their commitment to making a difference;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sean Parnell, Governor of the State of Alaska, do hereby proclaim October 2009 as:
Alpha Delta Kappa Month
in Alaska, and encourage all Alaskans to recognize the dedication of these outstanding educators.
