Gov. Issues Statement on 2012 Budget Proposal
Offered by Representative Paul Ryan
April 5, 2011, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell issued a statement today regarding the 2012 budget proposal offered by Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan:
“Today House Republicans delivered on a promise: They proposed a bold, serious, fiscally responsible federal budget for 2012 that cuts $6 trillion in federal spending over the next 10 years and puts America on a path to balance the budget and begin paying down the national debt.
“I want to thank House Republicans for working to arrest unsustainable federal spending, while including block grants to the states for programs like Medicaid. By giving states more freedom and flexibility, we can employ cost-saving measures and tailor solutions for the benefit of our unique populations.
“It is my hope that members of both parties in Washington will come together to realize that our nation faces a growing and unsustainable federal debt that imperils future prosperity and must be addressed head-on. This will require presidential leadership, bipartisan cooperation and hard choices. But the time to begin this serious process is now.”
