The Alaska State Council on the Arts, a state agency, fosters the development of the arts for all Alaskans through education, partnerships, grants and services.

End Result A: Build vibrant communities through the arts

The number of grants and services to artists and arts organizations increased by 9% from FY08 to FY09 due to the increasing market penetration in rural communities.

End Result B: Strengthen access to arts education in the curriculum

Arts in Education opportunities decreased in 2009 by 9%. However, ASCA's efforts to provide Arts in Education opportunities is expanding. In FY10, ASCA is utilizing the one-time National Endowment for the Arts Economic Stimulus funds to create and implement a new residency model ensuring long-term educational benefits of artists in schools residencies.
