November 6, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff today in honor and memory of the shooting victims at Fort Hood. President Obama has ordered flags at the White House and other federal agencies to be flown at half-staff until Veterans Day.

“Alaska joins the rest of the nation in mourning the victims of this horrible act,” Governor Parnell said. “Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. I urge fellow Alaskans to keep the families, friends and fellow soldiers in their thoughts and prayers.”

Thursday’s shooting at Fort Hood left 13 dead and 30 wounded. State flags will remain lowered until Veterans Day.
