DESCRIPTION: Trustees include 3 State of Alaska trustees: commissioners of the Departments of Fish and Game, Environmental Conservation, and Law; and 3 Federal trustees: Secretaries of the U.S. Departments of the Interior and Agriculture, and the Administrator for NOAA. A Trustee Council is set up by the Trustees to include same state members, plus Alaska designees of Federal members. An Executive Director and core staff are employed as ADF&G employees for administrative purposes only. They work for all 6 trustees. Public Advisory Council: Provisions in Settlement's Memorandum of Agreement say Trustees "shall establish a public advisory group." Trustee Council has set it up to include 17 members, 12 of whom represent principal interests, and 5 public at-large seats; in addition, there are 2 ad hoc legislative seats, appointed by the house and senate. The Trustee Council submits recommendations to the Secretary of Interior, who appoints. As a federal advisory commission, it is appointed officially by the Secretary of Interior.
FUNCTION: To serve as trustees of funds received in Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Settlement.
