DESCRIPTION: Not more than 12 members, which are appointed by Governor, including DVR Recipients, employers of individuals with disabilities, representatives from advocacy and community rehabilitation programs, representatives of client assistance programs, parent education and training programs, the independent living council and rehabilitation counselors. The board elects a chair for 1-year term; various state agencies which committee selects may each designate a staff member in advisory capacity; federal Veterans Employment Service and the Veterans' Administration may each be invited to designate advisor.
FUNCTION: Promotes employment of people of the state with disabilities by creating statewide interest in rehabilitation/employment of people with disabilities. Serves as the State Rehabilitation Council for Alaska that is required under 29 U.S.C. 725 for the receipt of federal financial ssistance under 29 U.S.C. 720 for vocational rehabilitation services. Advises the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, on the manner in which assistive technology devices and services will be provided, or worksite assessments will be made, in order to comply with 29 U.S.C. 721(a)(31).

COMPENSATION: Standard Travel and Per Diem. No additional compensation.
MEETINGS: At least quarterly, 14 days maximum.
