HB252, 2004, specifies that a person who has served two years or more of a four year term as a member is considered to have served a full term. Term: 4 years Description: 11 members appointed by Governor: 2 civil engineers, 2 land surveyors, 1 mining engineer, 1 electrical or mechanical engineer, 1 engineer from another branch of the profession of engineering, 2 architects; 1 landscape architect- after consideration of recommendations made by the Alaska Chapter of the ASLA serves in an advisory, non-voting capacity with a term that expires on June 30, 2009; must be 3-year Alaska resident immediately preceding appointment; registered, with at least 5 years professional practice in respective field; and 1 public member. Function: Controls registration, revocation of applicants in the architectural, engineering, land surveying and landscape architect professions. Chair: Elected by Board. Special facts: Governor may remove members for misconduct, incompetency, or neglect of duty; board elects/appoints a chair, vice chair, and secretary annually from its members; members serve until reappointed or replaced; annual report to Governor and Legislature. Members serve until a successor is appointed. An appointment to fill a vacancy is for the remainder of the unexpired term. A member who who has served two years or more of a four year term as a member is considered to have served a full term. Subsequently a member who has served two successive terms may not be reappointed unless four years have elapsed since the person has last served. Serve at the pleasure of the Governor.The governor can appoint a petroleum or chemical engineer to the seat designated for a mining engineer. Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem.
