Alaska Taiwan Friendship Week   Printer Friendly

WHEREAS, the friendship between the people of Alaska and Taiwan continues to foster increased understanding and international cooperation; and

WHEREAS, Alaskans join people around the world in extending sincere condolences to the many victims of Typhoon Morakot and in recognizing the bravery of the rescue workers; and WHEREAS, Alaska and Taiwan have enjoyed a mutually beneficial trade relationship for more than 40 years; and

WHEREAS, China Airlines continues to provide Alaska’s only year-round international passenger service and China Airlines and Eva Air both maintain air cargo operations in Alaska.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sean Parnell, Governor of the State of Alaska, do hereby proclaim October 4-10, 2009 as:

Alaska Taiwan Friendship Week

in Alaska, and encourage Alaskans to continue building upon the foundation of friendship, cultural exchange, transportation links, and trade, with the people of Taiwan.
