Parnell Mourns Fallen Fort Wainwright Soldier   Printer Friendly

September 21, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell offered his condolences to the family of a Fort Wainwright soldier killed in Iraq on September 19. Specialist Michael S. Cote, Jr., died of injuries sustained when his helicopter crashed in Balad, Iraq.

“Sandy and I offer our thoughts and prayers for Specialist Cote’s family and friends,” Governor Parnell said. “His courage and service to his country will not be forgotten.”

Specialist Cote was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 52nd Regiment, Aviation Task Force 49, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

A letter of condolence and a state flag will be sent to his family. ###
