ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 205
Under the authority of art. III, secs. 1 and 24, of the Alaska
Constitution and AS 44.17.020 and 44.17.070, I, Frank H. Murkowski, Governor
of the State of Alaska, order the following reorganization within the Department
of Labor and Workforce Development (department):
The Division of Business Partnerships is established in the
department, and includes the Alaska Workforce Investment Board (AS 23.15.550),
the Alaska Workforce Investment Office, the Balance of State Workforce
Investment Board designated in Administrative Order No. 182, and other
department functions related to supporting the workforce investment boards
and system.
The new division creates a structure that will enable federally
mandated, employer-led boards to partner with industry, unions, consortia,
community organizations, and agencies in order to develop and enhance workforce
systems that will benefit Alaskans and the state's business community.
This reorganization is necessary for efficient administration and provides
the tools needed for the department to meet the mandates of the federal
Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (29 U.S.C. 2801 - 2945).
This Order takes effect immediately.
DATED at Juneau, Alaska, this 20th day of January, 2003.
