ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 19
The opportunity for all students to obtain higher education
is of benefit to both the individual students and the State.
Many students do not possess sufficient financial resources to
pursue higher education.
There is established by statute (AS 14.40) an Alaskan Student
Loan and Tuition Grant Selection Committee. The Student Loan
and Tuition Grant Selection Committee has gone on record as favoring
the continued participation by the State in a Guaranteed Student
Loan Program.
The Commissioner of Education is the chief administrative
officer of the Department of Education and the executive secretary
of the Student Loan and Tuition Grant Selection Committee.
By virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of Alaska,
I hereby order that:
The Commissioner of Education of the State of Alaska, in his
capacity as the executive secretary of the Student Loan and Tuition
Grant Selection Committee, is responsible for administering the
Guaranteed Loan Program for Alaskans students.
This Order is retroactive to July 1, 1972.
